What exactly is the "Guv'na of Lutz"?
Great question.
The Guv'na of Lutz is a mostly ceremonial title, but it has the opportunity to make a very real difference for charities. She's not asking for your vote, she's asking for donations. The person that raises the most in fundraising wins. She wants to win (the winner gets to allocate 10% of their own fundraising to the charities of their own choice, and she is an avid animal lover and foster for Rescue Pets of Florida, a local all-volunteer rescue. But more than that, regardless of who wins the title, the fundraising helps everyone. Last year, candidates raised funds to support the following charities: Maniscalco PTSA - Magnetic Reading Grant; Corsos for Heroes; GFWC Womans & Little Womans Clubs; Old Lutz School; Civil Air Patrol; Cub and Girl Scouts of America, just to name a few!

Meet Becky - A Community Champion
Since 1999, Becky Jenkins has proudly called Lutz home! Nestled on a rural road, Becky loves this special corner of the world because it reminds her so much of her roots in Western Pennsylvania. While Lutz has certainly grown, it’s still brimming with that cozy, small-town charm and close-knit community feel, and Becky wouldn’t have it any other way!
Now, Becky is ready to take her love for Lutz to the next level by running for Lutz Guv’na! She's excited for the opportunity to serve, give back, and connect even deeper with the amazing people who make this town shine.
A proud Pittsburgh native, Becky graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from La Roche University and later earned her MBA from Tampa College. She’s a devoted mom of five - two sons, two stepsons, and one daughter - and for the past 28 years, she’s been building dreams as a home builder with Mobley Homes, shaping neighborhoods across Tampa Bay.
Becky serves on the Florida Homebuilders Association Board of Directors and previously held a seat on the Tampa Bay Builders Association Board. Talk about building communities inside and out, but it doesn’t stop there.
Becky’s heart for service runs deep. She’s passionate about fundraising and making a difference where it matters most. Over the last few years, she’s been hands-on with bingo fundraisers in Lutz, organized hurricane relief drives for Ian, Helene, and Milton, collected essential items for school kids and foster children, and sponsored three championship teams in the annual Premier Players of Soccer Charity Tournament.
She is also a fierce advocate for the voiceless. Becky volunteers with Rescue Pets of Florida, not only working to raise funds for this all-volunteer organization, but fostering rescue animals in her home until they are able to be vetted, fixed, and adopted out...a job that is always needed and there are never enough volunteers for.
Her focus is unwavering: children in foster care, children in need, animals, and veterans - causes that touch hearts and change lives.
